Wedding Saxophonist in Hungary

I’m Rudolf, a saxophonist based in Barcelona and Mallorca, and I also play at weddings in Hungary. I studied classical saxophone at the Liszt Academy in Budapest, so the country is familiar ground for me. I speak English, Hungarian and Spanish, which helps a lot when your guests fly in from abroad and your venue, caterer and DJ are all local.

Getting married in Spain instead? Here’s how I work as a wedding saxophonist there and abroad.

Live sax at your wedding in Hungary

Planning a wedding in Hungary from another country means a lot of emails, translations and guesswork. Music is one thing you can tick off quickly. I can play the ceremony, the drinks reception and the party, or just the part you need.

Before the day we go through your songs, the timings and what the venue allows. I talk to the local team in Hungarian, so nothing gets lost in translation, and you don’t have to be the one chasing everyone.

Why a saxophone?

A sax doesn’t need a whole band or a big stage. During the ceremony it’s soft enough for the vows and still carries outdoors. At drinks it sits in the background while people catch up. Later, played live over the DJ, it’s usually the thing that pulls people onto the dance floor. One musician, three very different moods.

Where couples get married in Hungary

Most couples coming from abroad end up looking at three kinds of places. Budapest, for the views over the Danube and the grand old hotels and palaces. Lake Balaton, for a summer wedding by the water. And the wine regions, like Tokaj, Eger or Villány, with vineyards, cellars and a slower pace. On top of that there are plenty of restored castles and manor houses in the countryside that work well for a whole wedding weekend.

If you’re still choosing, tell me what you have in mind. I’m happy to share what tends to work for live music in each kind of place.

About me

I started out as a classical saxophonist and moved into weddings and events because I like being close to people when I play. These days I spend most of the season at weddings in Spain, mainly in Mallorca and Barcelona, and I travel for weddings abroad.

What I enjoy most is the small stuff. The couple hearing their song as they walk in. Or the guest who swore they don’t dance being the first one up once the sax comes in.
