Your wedding saxophonist – RudolfSax

I’m Rudolf. I trained as a classical saxophonist at the Liszt Academy in Budapest and somewhere along the way ended up playing weddings instead of concert halls. I’ve never really looked back.

Most of my couples are getting married away from home. They’re planning from the UK, Ireland or further afield, often booking a venue they’ve only seen in photos. So I keep my side of it simple. You tell me the date, the place and roughly what you like, and I’ll come back to you with what I’d suggest and what it costs.

What I play depends on the moment. Something gentle while you walk down the aisle, easy jazz and pop covers while everyone has a drink, and then later, once the DJ gets going, live sax over the songs people actually dance to.

Spain is where I play most, and I spend a lot of the summer in Mallorca. But I travel for weddings too, and I’ve played in France, Italy, the Maldives, Dubai and Qatar. If you’re getting married somewhere a bit further away, ask anyway. Travel is usually easier to sort out than people expect.

Why live sax at a wedding?

A saxophone fills a terrace or a garden without needing a whole band. It’s flexible, too. It can sound soft and romantic during the ceremony and then really loud on the dancefloor a few hours later.

It also takes up very little space, which venues tend to like, and it works with whatever else you’ve got going on. I play on my own, with a singer, or on top of the DJ. Couples often tell me afterwards that it was the bit of the music their guests talked about.

Questions couples ask

What kind of music do you play?

Pop covers, jazz, a few classics and plenty of dance music for later on. I’d rather build the set around what you two like, so send me a few songs and I’ll take it from there.

Can you play with our DJ or band?

Yes, all the time. If you don’t have a DJ yet, I can bring one, plus speakers, a mic for the speeches and lights.

Do you bring your own sound?

Yes. For the ceremony and drinks I bring my own small setup, and for the party it depends on whether you book Sax + DJ or already have a DJ.

Do you travel for weddings outside Spain?

I do. Tell me where and when, and I’ll include the travel in the quote so there are no surprises.

How do we book?

Send me your date and venue through the form or on WhatsApp. If I’m free, I’ll send a quote and a simple contract, and a deposit holds the date.

Once it gets dark I sometimes switch to a saxophone fitted with LED lights. It sounds exactly the same, it just looks a lot better on the dancefloor and on video. It’s usually the moment guests start filming.

What you can book

Cocktail hour

During drinks the music should sit in the background so people can talk, but still feel like something’s happening. Easy jazz, acoustic pop covers and a few songs everyone half-recognises. If your drinks are at sunset, even better.
